Cub Scouts meet about one hour each week, with an outside Pack event averaging once each month.
The whole Pack (all of the age groups) meets on the first Thursday of the month at the Berlin VFW (34 Chestnut Ave, Berlin, NJ) from 7 to 8 pm. These meeting show off and recognize and advancements that our Scouts have earned the previous month, give dens a chance to perform certain activities in front of the group, and include a game, activity, or presentation.
Your Scout will be part of a Den made up of boys or girls that are all in the same grade or closely aged grades. Dens meetings will be scheduled by the Den leader and the parents of that den, but are *usually* 2 to 3 Thursday nights each month that the Pack is not meeting at Berlin VFW. Dens will also have group activities or field trips that may or may not be on Thursdays, depending on the activity.
Events & Activities
The Pack typically averages one event or activity per month. Camping, our Pinewood Derby, skiing or snow tubing, community service projects like placing flags on veterans’ graves for Memorial Day… these are usually the fun adventures that kids get into Scouting for! Check our Schedule of Events for details!
What if we can’t make some meetings or events?
No problem! Obviously, we’d LOVE for every Scout to make every meeting and event. It is just as obvious that our Scouts have family and outside commitments, sometimes that force them to miss one meeting, sometimes that force them to miss many meetings (such a sports conflict for several weeks or months). Whatever amount of time is missed, the Den Leader will let the family know what rank requirements their son missed so the family can work to keep their son up to date, and we’ll be thrilled to see your son or daughter and family return when they are ready!
A Year-Round Program
Cub Scouts continues the whole year through. Pack and Den meetings are held during the school year, September-June. During the summer, the Pack enjoys various summer outdoor activities and summer camp!
